Based on Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 12:10 of the Tanakh and the story of The Turtle and the Scorpion, this foreboding, medium-scale acrylic on canvas, titled 'Never Trust Your Enemy,' depicts a turtle (Yashar'el) stung by a scorpion (The heathen), as they're helping them across water (How we've been taken advantage of by the heathen time and time again). It has a colorful background and foreground that gives off a calm tropical feeling, in contrast to the sense of unease of what's happened. I use a composition and perspective that focuses on the turtle to convey a sense of danger and inevitability to the viewer.
